A closed head/traumatic brain injury is a trauma to the head that can result from automobile, truck, or motorcycle accident, fall, or impact to the skull. Such injuries range from relatively mild to severe, or even fatal. Closed head/traumatic brain injuries may be difficult to diagnose because there may not be any visible external signs of the brain injury.
These types of injuries may include concussions and may or may not include a contusion, injury to brain tissue, and hematoma. Closed head/traumatic brain injuries may also involve:
- loss of consciousness
- severe headaches or dizziness
- nausea or vomiting
- memory loss or cognitive problems
- drowsiness, fatigue or insomnia
- balance problems
Victims of an automobile, truck or motorcycle accident, fall, or trauma to the head may be eligible to seek monetary compensation for their damages if the accident was the result of the negligence of another party. Victims of a closed head injury arising from an auto, truck or motorcycle accident, for example, may seek compensation for many things, including medical expenses, loss of income or earning potential, pain and suffering among others.
